Social studies is taught at each grade level to engage and motivate every student through stories of the intriguing people, exciting places, and fascinating events that make social studies relevant to each student’s life. Students gain a global perspective to a better understanding of a worldview. In addition, students learn to participate as citizens who consider diverse points-of-view, use critical thinking skills, and are active in their communities. American history is taught in alternate years to 5th through 8th grades.
