Ms. Oneicia Thomas
Principal
Our Principal, Ms. Oneicia Thomas, is a creative, enthusiastic educator who served as the 1st & 2nd Grade teacher here at Atlanta North School for the past two years.
With over 20 years of experience in education, Ms. Thomas has dedicated her career to fostering a love for learning in young minds. She holds a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and an MA in Educational Leadership from Ashford University, as well as a MA Degree in Teaching from Southern Adventist University. Throughout her journey as an educator, she had the privilege of working in various roles, from classroom teacher to administrator, each one reinforcing her commitment to student success.
Ms. Thomas believes in educating the whole child and excels in reaching students at their point
of need while facilitating their growth in different areas. Her ability to communicate and work
with parents as well as shareholders makes her a great addition to our administrative team. She
has great interpersonal skills and is always willing to work along with the parents/guardians for
the growth and development of students. One of Ms. Thomas’ goal as a principal is to ensure
that our students are educated for now and eternity.
Ms. Thomas’s educational philosophy is “I believe that every child is unique and capable of
achieving great things.” At Atlanta North School, we are striving to create an inclusive
environment where our students feel loved, safe, respected, and motivated to learn.
Her approach is holistic, focusing not only on academic excellence but also on the spiritual, social and emotional well-being of our students. We aim to equip our students with the skills they need to become thoughtful, compassionate, and responsible citizens. When she is not at school, Ms. Thomas enjoys mentoring children and reading, which helps her stay balanced and energized. She also loves spending time with her beautiful daughter and exploring new places, both near and far.
Mrs. Catherine Vera
Office Administrator
Mrs. Vera is the office administrator for the Pre-K through 8th grade school. Her ready smile and quick attention to details welcomes everyone to the school. In addition, her bilingual knowledge with both English and Spanish helps facilitate understanding for both languages. If you have any question, Mrs. Vera will readily find the answer, refer you to the correct person, or help facilitate your application and registration to the school.
Ms. Denisee Walters
Pre-K and Kindergarten Teacher
Ms. Walters is an energetic warm caring teacher who all students love. As the teacher, all lessons are well-prepared with strong academics interwoven with stations of learning. Classroom management is well maintained with order and classroom rules. Students thrive in their learning and excellence, and are well prepared for moving on to 1st grade.

Ms. Regina Evelyn
Pre-K / Kindergarten Teacher Assistant
Ms. Regina Evelyn is a product of Seventh-day Adventist Christian education. She attended Berean Jr. Academy and graduated from Georgia Cumberland Academy. Ms. Evelyn has four adult children who matriculated through Atlanta North School (ANS). She has four grandchildren, two of whom are of school age and attend Seventh-day Adventist academies.
Ms. Evelyn has worked at ANS as a substitute teacher and director of the after-school program for 15 years. She is currently a paraprofessional in the pre-K classroom where she loves teaching to help shape the future lives of the students. One of Ms. Evelyn’s goals is to be the change that she would want to see in others. One of Ms. Evelyn’s favorite scriptures is “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6.
In addition, Ms. Evelyn enjoys physical education, inspirational reading, meditation, walking, helping others, music, and worship.
Mrs. Alicia Hobbs
1st & 2nd Grade Teacher
Mrs. Hobbs is a passionate, consistent, loving teacher. She is a Southern Adventist University graduate who lived in TN her whole life before moving here to Atlanta this summer! After teaching a large second grade class in Chattanooga for a year Mrs. Hobbs is very excited to be teaching 1st and 2nd grade this year. She’s always known she wanted to teach in a multi-grade classroom just like her Mom. Mrs. Hobbs is passionate about providing students with a structured classroom that leads them to focus and thrive while also making learning fun! In her free time she enjoys making new friends, writing, playing board games, baking, and painting. She is so excited to be a part of the Atlanta North family!
Mrs. Jennifer Gennick
3rd & 4th Grade Teacher
Mrs. Jennifer Gennick and her family have lived in Atlanta for the past two years. She has enjoyed teaching 3rd and 4th graders at Atlanta North School during that time.
Mrs. Gennick has taught for 23 years; 2 years in Nashville, TN, 10 years in Huntsville, AL, 9 years in Mobile, AL, and 2 years in Atlanta, GA. She enjoys helping spark students’ interests and abilities as
they grow academically and spiritually.
Mrs. Gennick and her husband of 19 years have 3 children; Audrey, 15, Julia, 13, and Blaze, 9. Mrs. Gennick loves spending time with family, being outdoors, reading, exercising, and shopping.
Mrs. Gennick is looking forward to a new school year and seeing what God has in store for the future.
Ms. Sophia Solér
5th & 6th Grades Homeroom Teacher
Ms. Sophia Solér has been teaching in Michigan for the last three years. Besides teaching incredibly interesting subjects, she enjoys doing service projects, traveling, and mission work! She loves spending time with kids of all ages, and might even be one herself sometimes. Her hobbies include anything with art, music, food, sports, and a few recreational activities. She loves animals as well, and she has a cat and cute guinea pig. She looks forward to warm weather and warm people.
Mr. Albert Diaz
Mr. Diaz has been working with kids since 2018 starting out in an Afterschool program. That’s where he realized he wanted to work with them for the rest of his life. Mr. Diaz has a big passion for sports, especially GOLF, but a bigger passion for education. With his recent graduation from Southern Adventist University with a Bachelors in Elementary Education, Atlanta North School is his first teaching position. Mr. Diaz has a passion and enthusiasm to work with his students, wanting to help them achieve their goals in education and in life. Mr. Diaz is the 7th grade sponsor and is eager to get to know and connect with each and every one of his students. His goal this year is for each and every student to feel safe in the classroom and to achieve their academic goals.
7th & 8th Grade Homeroom, 5th-8th Social Studies & PE Teacher
Ms. Gift Nnakwu
Math & Science - Upper Grade Teacher
Ms. Gift has been with Atlanta North since August 2020 when she joined as a substitute teacher. She enjoys math and science, and has been tutoring since she graduated from Atlanta North. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from Georgia State University and has lots of experience working with kids. She is also the current Adventurers Club Director at the Nigerian Church and has been involved with the Atlanta North Church for the past 15+ years. Her hobbies include reading, going to concerts, and baking. This will be her first teaching position and she’s excited to get to know the students better.
Ms. Jean Grivas
Piano Instructor
Ms. Grivas is the piano instructor for nearly a third of the students at the school. Her contagious smile empowers students to practice and perform on the piano. All lessons are pre-planned with the teacher to be given during the school day.
Mr. Andres Silva
Music Director - Choir, Hand Bells, Piano and Violin Instructor
Mr. Silva began teaching Music in 2006 and has served as Music Director at ANS since 2018.
Students can join the Beginner HandBell Choir from 3rd Grade or
Audition for Advanced Bell Choir in Middle School. Students can also take private lessons in Piano or Strings which are pre-planned with their teacher to be held during the school day.
Additionally, all students participate in Elementary or Middle School Choirs and all music groups have performance opportunities throughout the year.
Ms. Nohora Bryan
Hot Lunch Coordinator, Before & After Care
Ms. Nohora is the hot lunch coordinator for the school. Her delicious and healthy meals provide parents an alternative for their students’ lunches. Ms. Nohora’s engaging smile and kind words encourage each student coming through the school doors in the morning.
